Wednesday

Blog Blog Blog!

Hey now!
Lately the only thing that has been in my head lately.
And it has been "Blog Blog Blog!"
Now this could be a good thing or a bad one... Who really knows?

It is humpday (Wednesday for all you non-creative people out there [; ) and even more so it is the humpday before winter break. Oh how I wish you would come sooner. These next 3 days will be filled to the brim with tests, quizzes, and mind-boggling information. Basically this week is "Lucid Dreams" from Franz Ferdinand to quote...

"There is no nation of you, there is no nation of me
Our only nation lives in lucid dreams
Lucid dreams, I'm livin? in lucid dreams
I'm livin? on shortwave streams tonight

I'm gonna give my aimless love
My angry heart, my desire
I woke with wings from lucid dreams
I knew the reason I felt hollow
Was it I may never know
If there is some great truth or not"

..or maybe not. This song is stellar though...makes me want to sleep. But then it goes into this tecno thing and makes me want to change the song..

Anywho, this week is hard on the highschool soul.

I really can't wait.

Can't you see?

I am in creative writing. (one of the few classes I actually enjoy)

Oh wait. Nooooo.

I have to be at work at 5:45 am on Monday.

First day of break.

Oh well.

Something Million
By: Me
“Stupid door,” he mumbled as he fumbled with the lock on the door of his apartment. After some time, he finally got into his home, or at least he liked to think of this shack as his home. He’d never really had one of his own. After being thrown from foster home to foster home, he was still on the street, at twenty, and without a high school diploma. He looked around his one-bedroom apartment. The wallpaper around the room resembled his life--dirty, cheap and falling apart. He sighed as he lowered to the floor the backpack that he had carried with him since dropping out of school. Long time ago he thought as he looked at the thread-bare backpack. He kicked it. He sighed once again as he walked over to the blinking light on the answering machine. He clicked the play button.
“Hey, this is Mike from the credit-” He skipped it.
“Dannnnyy DANNY BOY! Do you know how much yyyouu mweaan to me brroo? Liikee you do. I wwwoove you! Ahnd ahhnddd-” he skipped it again. He preferred not to listen to his best friend John declare his love towards him in a drunken slur.
“Hey Dan, it’s Cin again… I just wanted you to know I left your clothes and other items you left at my house in a box.. I burned it. Thought I’d let you know. Bye, asshole.” HE slowly slid down the wall against which he was leaning. His stupid ex-girlfriend. He shook his head. She was a slut and didn’t deserve him. Or at least that’s what everyone kept telling him. He imagined her red hair, sharp and as terrifying as fire. He pictured her fair skin against his as they would fool around outside the bar where they’d met. He remembered the smell of her skin as she would walk by, and the way she would sway her…He could not think about her. Not now.
“Hello Daniel.” A deep voice came onto the answering machine. “My name is Jonathan Snyder, and I am here to give you some amazing news. You entered a contest a while back… I believe it was in December, but anyways, you’ve won! Your check will be coming in the mail. I just need you to give me a call at this number so I can confirm your address. Good luck to you. Have a great day.” Dan was standing up by now, shocked. He remembered entering a contest, but somehow forgot what the prize was. A check for twenty-five dollars maybe? If it was a check, he might be able to pay his rent on time for once. He dialed the number that he’d gotten from the caller ID.
“Hello,” an older lady answered. “You have reached Jonathan Snyder’s office; how may I help you?”
Dan smiled for the first time that day.
“Hello, my name is Daniel Jones and-”
She interrupted him, “Oh, Daniel. I will direct you to Mr. Snyder’s office immediately.” And the line went to a slow music, most likely the hold tone.
“Hello, this is Jonathan Snyder. I am speaking to Daniel Jones, am I correct?”
“Yes sir,” he replied proudly.
“Okay great. Let’s get this going so I can mail you your grand prize.”
“Okay, well let’s get started.” He could not believe he’d actually won. Dan would enter any free contest he could, but he had never won anything before. Even as a child, he would play bingo at one of his foster homes with the lovely woman who cared for him. He always thought she cheated because she would win every game. She would always say, “Good job Danny, but maybe next time.” She would wink and hand him a warm, fresh, chocolate chip cookie. He smiled at one of his few fond memories from his childhood.
After talking to Jonathan on the phone, Dan decided that he would go for a jog. He realized he hadn’t gone out on his usual route the past few days. So he went to his dresser and got changed into his jogging pants and his cheap, worn out running shoes. Grabbing his keys, he was out the door of his old apartment, unaware of what the future held. He jogged around the city. His city. The one he had been a part of ever since he could remember. He jogged past the laundry mat and even the bar where he would spend most of his nights before meeting Cindy.
After about two hours he was back in his apartment drinking some cold coffee and watching the news. Bombs were going off in Iraq and Afghanistan, and two children playing at the park after hours had been murdered; it was too much for him to handle. He turned off the television and watched the world from his window, listening to the city around him. He didn’t understand why the world had to be so cruel. He knew that there were bad people, like his birth mother. She had abandoned him at the young age of four after his father had overdosed on heroin. He had grown up downtown. But somehow, he knew what the world had to give. He watched the city change at night. The police sirens and dogs barking, were a beautiful soundtrack of the city. The night air engulfed his nose, surrounding and comforting him and everyone else around him. He felt the coolness touch his skin as the sun set. But there were smells he could not handle. The smell of stale alcohol and urine filled his nose; he had to close the window.
The next day, he went for another jog. Passing his old bar, he noticed that the pit-bull that the owner of the bar had was staring at him. Based on past experience, he avoided it, except Kruger (the dog) had other plans and started to follow him. Daniel, not wanting to look like a lunatic, ignored the dog, and he didn’t notice when the dog got close. The dog pounced on him and started to lick him to death. Not only that, but girls seemed to smile at him on the way back, people who never noticed him finally did. The world seemed brighter. If only he truly knew how much.
A few days later, he opened the mailbox located in the entry of his building. Filtering through the mail in his hands he saw bills, bills and… he suddenly stopped. He stared at the big manila envelope in his hand. “Jonathan Snyder and Co.” He mumbled to himself. He opened it calmly, as if it were nothing. He thought, Maybe I will be lucky and win a few hundred dollars. He laughed to himself and then looked at the check. He gaped and toppled to the ground. In his hand was a check for 8.4 million dollars.

Kind of a cool story. Please don't steal it. I love it. And then I will be sad and send the devil on you. He is in the palm of my hand. So don't mess with me.

Seriously.

Bye Now.

Peace.

(But really, please don't steal my stuff. It is immoral. If you want to show someone, give them my link. )
